Community Partnership plans

Cheddar community group My Cheddar and the award winning Cheddar Medical Centre Patients’ Group have mutually recognised the benefits to be gained in coordinating local projects and of being able to effectively link our needs to our resources. Together they have been looking at the activities of other communities within Somerset, have liaised with Cheddar Parish Council, and are consulting with the Community Council for Somerset who can offer valuable resources to help us here in Cheddar.
The next step will be a professional needs and data analysis which will be commissioned in the New Year, consulting with individuals, families, businesses and organisations. This will focus on three key areas, health and wellbeing, economic sustainability and community improvement with a view to forming a Community Partnership. This Partnership will be able to bid for external funding in order to deliver projects based on the results of the analysis. There is normally a My Cheddar AGM in December but with a lot of work going on behind the scenes, it has been deferred to January to enable the community partnership proposals to be presented in some detail.
The AGM was held at Hannah More Cottage, 7pm on Wednesday 20th January.
